Megan is from California and Jason is from Utah. They met while on the BYU Study Abroad Program in Jerusalem in 1996. Jason opened his mission call to Argentina while they were there. Megan also went on a mission to Argentina. When they returned from their missions, they dated for while going to school at the University of Utah and were later married in Salt Lake City in 1999. Megan graduated from the U. of U. with degrees in Nursing and Spanish Language and Literature. Megan and her family came to L-town when Jason started working at the Koolauloa Health and Wellness Center last year. They have family that live in Kailua and always knew that they wanted to end up in Hawaii. When Jason’s job opened up it was a dream come true! Megan likes to train for and do triathlons. She also loves to go to the beach with her family and travel. Megan’s favorite food is mint chocolate ice cream. She also likes Thai food and ANY type of salad. Megan also likes to read, run, bike, hike, and sew. Megan’s ultimate favorite thing is going to bed at night after a busy day! The one thing Megan would like to accomplish is growing a successful garden. Megan and her family LOVE it here and feel very at home. We are so excited to have Megan and her family as part of our L-town 4th Ward Ohana and more particularly our Relief Society.

We would like to welcome Christine C. and her family; husband, Hal and son, Justin to our L-town 4th Ward Ohana and especially Christine to our L-town 4th Ward Relief Society. Christine and Hal are originally from Hong Kong. They are converts and met at a missionary/investigator activity. They got married and came to study at BYUH. Christine and Hal have three daughters who are now at BYU- Provo and their son, Justin who is still at home going to KHS. Twenty years after Christine and Hal left Hawaii, they have returned because of Hal’s employment at PCC. Christine and Hal’s son-in-law once suggested to change the BYUH’s motto from “Enter to Learn, Go Forth and Serve” to “Enter to Learn, Go Back to Serve”. So here they are! Some of Christine’s favorite colors are blue, white, and yellow. Her favorite foods are dim-sum and sushi. Some of Christine’s favorite things to do are spending time with her family, taking a walk on the beach, and learning/trying new things. The one thing Christine would like to accomplish someday would be to assist her children accomplish their missions in life.
We are so excited to have Christine and her family as part of our L-town 4th Ward Ohana and more particularly our Relief Society.

Spotlight for January

We would like to welcome Elizabeth T. and her cute little family; husband, Greg, son, Kalani, and another little one on the way (in about 5 months) to our L-town 4th Ward Ohana and especially Elizabeth to our L-town 4th Ward Relief Society. Bitsy (Elizabeth’s nickname) is originally from Texas while Greg is originally from Southern California & South Carolina. Both Bitsy and Greg were students at BYUH where they became good friends while hiking the Na Pali Coast on Kauai. A few months later they started dating and the rest is history. Their love for L-town grew when they were students and longed to return after they graduated. So they are grateful for this opportunity to move back. Some of Bitsy favorites are playing basketball, running, and body surfing. She also likes reading, trying new recipes, and loves to EAT. One of her favorite restaurants is Haleiwa Eats. She also likes avocado and has a terrible sweet tooth even though she doesn’t like the peanut butter and chocolate combo. Her ultimate favorite things to do are dance parties with Kalani in the kitchen, science museums (only to play with everything because she knows NOTHING about science), and zoos. She also likes having adventures with Greg. He is good at finding fun adventures to do around the island. They have swam with dolphins, surfed, jumped of waterfalls and rope swings. Bitsy loves finding new fun places like that. One day Bitsy would like to get her masters and teach teachers the importance of story time in the classroom and help to give children a life-long love for reading. But until then she will be teaching her own children. We are so EXCITED to have Bitsy and her family in our L-town 4th Ward Ohana and more particularly our Relief Society.

Spotlight for December

We would like to welcome Charlene I. and her children, Kobe and Kitana to our L-town 4th Ward Ohana and more particularly our Relief Society. Charlene is from this beautiful island of Oahu while her children are from the Big Island. They made their way here to L-town because of BYUH. Some of Charlene’s favorites are ANYTHING chocolate, ANYTHING white, and Zumba. She also LOVES FOOD! Charlene likes to read, travel, coach Judo, more Zumba, and sleep. Charlene’s ULTIMATE favorite aspect of life is being HAPPY and being in LOVE with LIFE. Someday she would love to visit ALL the temples and serve a mission with her husband. There isn’t a single thing that is unique about Charlene because EVERYTHING about her is unique. We are so thrilled to have Charlene and her family as part of our L-town 4th Ward Ohana and part of our Relief Society!

November Spotlight

We would like to welcome Sister Aileen W. to our L4 Ward Ohana. Aileen is originally from Chico, California. She
came to Hawaii and more particularly L-town because she was offered a position as a Education Professor at BYUH. Aileen’s favorite colors are blue and green, she is not a big ice cream
fan but her favorite restaurant is any that offers something new
or ethnic. Aileen doesn’t watch that much television but LOVES
movies and especially LOVES to read. Aileen loves just about anything outdoors. She loves to backpack, play sports, travel,
learn new things, ride horses, scuba dive, repel, and decorate. Aileen’s ultimate favorite thing to do is travel. One day Aileen
would like to feel like she is using her knowledge and experience
to help those within her stewardship. (I feel that this she might
already be accomplishing!) One thing that is unique about Aileen is that at one time she worked as a nanny for a BILLIONAIRE! Cool! We are so excited to have Aileen W. in our Relief Society and our L4 Ward Ohana!

***Aileen W. is our new ward employment specialist. She is anxious to help any of our ward members who are unemployed, underemployed, or who perhaps just need something different.

October Spotlight

We would like to welcome Bobure W. and her handsome husband, Simion, to our L-town 4th Ward Ohana. Bobure is from Kiribati and Simion is originally from Saipan but his family moved to Guam when he was 14 yrs. old. Bobure came to L-town to attend BYUH. While here, she met Simion (a long distant relationship) through a mutual friend who happened to be Simion’s best friend from high school. Then Simion came to L-town to officially meet Bobure (sooo sweet), stayed, and they are living happily ever after.

Bobure and Simion both like the color blue but different shades. Bobure loves baby blue and Simion loves ocean blue. Bobure loves Chinese food and vanilla ice cream while Simion loves Subway and ANY flavor of ice cream. Bobure’s favorite show is the Food Channel while Simion loves to watch UFC (a fighting show). Now that Bobure is not going to school she loves ANY day of the week. They both like to hang out with their friends and talk to their families who live so far away. Bobure’s ultimate favorite thing to do is talk to her Mom who lives thousands of miles away. The one thing that Bobure would like to learn is how to bake because Simion loves to eat foods that are baked.
We are so excited to have Bobure and Simion in our ward and Bobure in our Relief Society!

Spotlight

We would like to welcome Vicky T. and her cute little family to our L4 Ward Ohana. Vicky and her husband, Joshua, are from Kiribati. She and Joshua met briefly back home before coming to BYUH in Spring 2005, the reason they moved to Hawaii and more importantly L-town. They were even on the same plane coming to Hawaii (Was that a tender mercy?).
Some of Vicky’s favorites are the color green, vanilla ice cream, weekends and Monday nights, and getting to be with and doing things with her family. Her favorite things to do are baking, going to the beach, swimming, sewing (she is still learning but says it is fun), cooking, visiting family and friends, reading, and spending time with her family, Joshua and Maylynne (2 1/2yrs. old).
Vicky’s ultimate favorite thing to do would be attending temple sessions once a week if possible. One thing that Vicky would like to accomplish/learn would be to be able to make wedding cakes. She says that she is still working on her skills and not even close to the first step. (Maybe she wants us to think that...) Vicky also loves Relief Society.
We are so excited to have Vicky and her family in our ward and Vicky in our Relief Society!
