Spotlight for April

We would like to welcome Kathie W. and her family: husband- Colby, son- Cole (4 1/2 yrs.), daughter- Izzy (2 yrs.), and baby BOY (coming ANY DAY) to our L-town 4th Ward Ohana and more importantly Kathie to our L-town 4th Ward Relief Society. Kathie is from Charlotte, North Carolina and Colby is from Sacramento, California. They met in a singles ward in Southern California while Kathie was teaching school and Colby  was attending graduate school at UC Irvine. Kathie was dating the Elders’ Quorum President at the time and Colby was his counselor.  Upon hearing that things between Kathie and the EQ President were not working out, Colby decided to ask her out. It has been history ever since! What brought Kathie and her family to Hawaii depends on who you talk to about it. However, the answer is either divine intervention or BYUH. Kathie is sure though that both answers are synonymous. Some of Kathie’s favorites are bright citrus colors (orange, yellow, and green), all things sweet and dessert like, and chocolate ice cream with anything else sweet in it. She doesn’t watch TV regularly BUT indulges in “Glee” whenever possible. Kathie’s favorite day of the week is Friday because it is like an accomplishment; she made it another week! Restaurants are not prolific on the North Shore so she hasn’t frequented too many places. However, Kathie has eaten at Roy’s in Ko’olina and loved it. A special treat! Kathie loves to read, but when she gets a good book she has to finish it immediately so, least to say, her family is neglected until the book is done. The latest series of books she read were the Hunger Games. Kathie also likes to be outside and do fun things with her family. They love the beach and exploring all the fun places on Oahu. Kathie’s ultimate favorite thing to do is day dream about her future home one day. She cuts out pictures and collects articles from home decor magazines and keeps them for future reference. The one thing Kathie would like to learn/accomplish one day is to learn to sew. She would like to make curtains, pillows, duvets, etc all things that are of a textile nature that she could decorate a home with. Kathie and her family love being here and are excited for the adventure. They love the ward and are excited to serve in their callings. We are so excited to have Kathie and her family as part of our L-town 4th Ward Ohana and more particularly our Relief Society.
